Key Acreage in Fast Edit CLU
After importing CIMS data, you can begin keying acreage information. There are a couple of ways you can enter acreage information in Fast Edit CLU. Fast Plant allows you to add crop information to multiple fields across policy coverages at one time. Hierarchical data matching is performed using the FSN/Tracts entered on premium lines to automatically match and pre-fill coverage and premium line selections when possible. Or, you can enter planting information individually, field by field.
NOTE: Note that, even if you Fast Plant acreage, you will likely need to complete final entries of plant date and/or prevented plant status and/or Acreage Type selection before exiting the page.
Using the Fast Edit CLU’s Fast Plant feature, a user can quickly plant multiple fields according to a specific crop, type, and/or practice.
NOTE: Before you can fast plant, CIMS data must have been imported and be displaying on the page. See "Import CIMS Data in Fast Edit CLU".
Using hierarchical data matching, the System will attempt to match the FSN/Tract/Field and Fast Plant criteria (at a Crop or Crop/Type/Practice level) to information stored in the land ID record on the premium line. The system will default as many required remaining selections as possible on the field line in the grid.
1. | In the Fast Plant section, select the crop you are reporting from the Crop dropdown. This dropdown is populated with the crops from all active coverages on the policy. |
2. | If the crop is related to coverages with multiple types and practices, it may be advantageous to apply additional Type and Practice filters in the Fast Plant selection. In most cases, however, it’s best to use Crop only when entering criteria in the Fast Plant section. |
3. | Unless a single plant date applies to all fields being fast planted, it’s best to enter plant dates on the individual field lines after fast planting has been completed. To add the same plant date to all fields planted with the selected crop, type the Plant Date in DD/MM/YYYY format or use the calendar button to select the plant date. This is required when a crop is selected for the field. |
4. | The Match Unit by Land ID checkbox is selected by default. This option will impose hierarchical data matching and limit the available coverage and premium line dropdown listings to only those that have a direct match with the FSN/Tract and the FSN/Tract entered on the premium line’s Land ID record. While you may choose to remove the hierarchical data matching by turning this option off, the Fast Edit CLU functionality is best utilized with this feature. If, at any time, you decide to deselect this checkbox, you will need to manually refresh each field line where you don’t want to use the data matching feature. A manual refresh icon is available at the end of each field line for this purpose. |
5. | To include Non-Cropland fields like wildlife preservation and grass acreage in the grid shown, select the Include Non-Cropland checkbox. Although the default is to not show these fields, you may select the checkbox which refreshes the grid to display any applicable field data. |
6. | To view only a single FSN/Tract at a time when processing from the Land IDs dropdown, select the FSN/Tract to view. The System refreshes the grid to display only fields for that land ID. |
NOTE: This is the recommended method for quickly finding an FSN/Tract for planting, and it’s especially helpful for managing large policies that have many FSN/Tract combinations. When applicable to some Ohio counties, the System supports non-conventional Township/Range order (i.e., flipped).
7. | Select the individual field lines to apply the Fast Plant criteria to. Fields are sorted in ascending order by FSN/Tract. |
NOTE: You can also use the Select All checkbox in the FSN/Tract banner to select all fields within that FSN/Tract grouping.
8. | Click Apply. The System will apply the crop to the selected fields and match the coverage and premium line information where possible, defaulting the Coverage and Premium Line dropdowns to the matched data. |
NOTE: Entry of any coverage/premium lines that could not be matched as well as plant dates / PP designation and applicable acreage types must occur as a field level entry.
After clicking Apply, the selected checkboxes are cleared and updated lines are shown with a modified indicator. This is the same indicator seen on other Fast Edit pages. |
Within the field grid, you can also plant fields line by line.
1. | On a field in the grid, if there is a sub field in the CIMS data, it will be populated here as a letter (such as A or B). Users are also allowed to enter a Sub Field identifier in this textbox when acres on field need to be split for reporting current year acreage. |
2. | Select the current year’s planted Crop for the FSN/Tract/Field. The System populates the Coverage and Premium Line dropdowns based on the crop selected for the FSN/Tract, where auto matching is possible. |
NOTE: As you make changes to an individual field, the modified indicator appears to designate that you have unsaved changes on the line.
3. | You can also manually select a coverage from the Coverage dropdown. If a crop is selected for the field, then a coverage selection is required. |
4. | If a premium line was not selected automatically by the System, from the Premium Line dropdown, select the applicable unit. |
NOTE: If the System cannot automatically make a Coverage or Premium Line match for the Crop selected on the field, then the FSN/Tract on the detail line’s Land ID record may not be up to date to allow the auto match. So, you can remove the Match Unit by Land ID checkbox and click the refresh button () on the planted field line to refresh that line with all available coverage and/or premium line choices for the policy.
5. | To update the planted CLU acres for the field, use the spinner arrows to increase or decrease the acreage. The System always defaults the total CLU acres for each field, requiring a user to adjust these when appropriate. |
NOTE: This should never be greater than the defaulted total CLU fields.
6. | In the Plant Date field, type the plant date in DD/MM/YYYY format or use the calendar button to select the plant date. This is required when a crop is selected for the field. |
7. | To indicate the field was prevented planting, select the PP checkbox. This checkbox is only enabled if allowed on the crop and by the RMA and a Plant Date has not been entered for the field. If you select the PP checkbox, when you tab out of the field, the prevented planting reduction from the policy displays to the left of the checkbox. |
8. | When applicable to the crop/coverage planted, the AR Type dropdown displays. Select the Acreage Record type from the AR Type dropdown. |
9. | If the crop selected is Cotton (0021 or 0022) or Corn (0041) and a unit is applied with a non-irrigated Skip Row practice code, then the Planting Pattern and Row Width fields display. These are required for all planted field lines. The Skip Row Factor is also displayed as read only. If a unique skip row factor needs to be entered, it can only be changed through exception processing with Fast Edit AR or on the detail line. |
10. | To split acres for a field, click the duplicate button () at the end of the row. Any data entered for the field will be copied to a new line immediately below. A field can be duplicated as many times as needed. The Sub Field value, CLU Acres, and other selections will need to be updated on all sub fields. |
NOTE: Duplicating a field does not create a duplicate detail line—this option just allows you to duplicate an individual field so it can be reported as a split field for acreage reporting purposes.
Once you’ve entered acreage for each field on the coverage, you’ll move on to saving your changes. See"Save Acreage in Fast Edit CLU".
