Post-Application Coverage Endorsement (PACE)
Overview
The Post Application Coverage Endorsement program, which is valid for the 2022+ RYs, provides supplemental coverage for a producer when they are prevented from post-/split-applying nitrogen in the 2-3 week V3-V10 corn growth stages due to wet weather and field conditions.
PACE will be available for non-irrigated corn with a Sales Closing Date of March 15 in select counties in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Ohio; check the actuarials for coverage.
Similar to other endorsements, PACE requires an underling base MPCI coverage of Yield Protection, Revenue Protection, or Revenue Protection with Harvest Price Exclusion with coverage at the additional coverage level. Insureds may select a PACE coverage level percent from 75 to 90 percent in 5 percent increments, and the PACE coverage level may differ from the coverage level on the underlying policy.

in the ADM. If available for the Reinsurance Year, State, County, and Crop, the System will display an internal "PACE" option code for selection when adding or editing the underlying/companion coverage, which is required to insure the option.
Once elected, the System will use the PACE option code when populating PACE information on forms as well as determining the appropriate PACE premium rating and claim calculations. In order to do this, the System will use the underlying/companion coverage Plan Code and convert it to the appropriate PACE Plan Code when reading the ADM tables for applicable PACE lines. The following will be used to determine the conversion when needed:
If the underlying/companion coverage Plan Code is | Then the new PACE Plan Code is |
---|---|
"01" | "26" |
"02" | "27" |
"03" | "28" |
PACE functions similarly to SCO, ECO, and HIP, so you'll notice that much of the functionality feels familiar.
When 01, 02, or 03 is selected for a Corn coverage, "PACE" displays in the Crop Options dropdown when available for the state/county/crop.
When PACE is elected, several additional PACE-related fields display:
a. | PACE Coverage Level: Designate the coverage level for the PACE coverages. Available levels are from 75 to 90 percent in 5 percent increment. |
b. | PACE Nitrogen App: From the Post Application dropdown, select the nearest 5% increment that represents the soil's post-application nitrogen value. The PRE value is automatically calculated according to the selected POST value. These two fields' values will sum to 100%. |
c. | PACE Acreage Exclusion: Indicate whether PACE will apply to all acres or not. This field defaults to cleared—which is not excluded. |
Child line functionality for PACE will work similar to SCO child lines:
• | The System will create a PACE child line when planted acres are greater than zero are keyed on the base coverage detail line and the acres are not designated as HR, PP, or UI. |
• | Any changes made to an existing base coverage line will be pushed to the PACE child line. |
• | Optional unit logic will exclude PACE child lines acres when determining whether the OU unit structure applies to the parent line. |
• | Enterprise unit validation logic will exclude PACE child line acres when determining enterprise unit qualifications. |
• | The prevented plant 20/20 rule will exclude PACE child lines acres when determining the 20/20 rule. |
