Add the VFR Status to a Grower/Record

In order to apply VFR benefits to a policy, users must mark the Veteran Farmer/Rancher (BFR) checkbox on the Maintain Grower page—this page is only accessed from within a policy. Then, users are prompted to provide additional VFR certification and eligibility information.

1. Search for and locate a policy of the grower whose record you need to add VFR status to.
2. On the View Grower for Policy page, click Edit. The Maintain Grower page opens.
3. In the Eligibility Information section, expand the Beginning & Veteran Farmer Rancher Information section, select the BFR/VFR checkbox. The Application Type, Certification Date, Years of Eligibility, and Processed by AIP fields appear.

NOTE: When the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked on the grower record, the premium and Admin Fees are applied when an AR Sign Date exists on the coverage, the coverage has been marked complete at least once, and it has one premium earning detail line.

4. From the Application Type dropdown, select whether the application is for Beginning Farmer Rancher or Veteran Farmer Rancher status. This field is required. An insured can qualify as either BFR or VFR, but they cannot be both.
5. In the Certification Date field, type the date the VFR status was certified and the application was signed or click the calendar button to open the calendar and select a date. This can only be edited until an Approved by AIP date exists (as shown in step 7). This field is required when the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked.
6. From the Years of Eligibility dropdown, select the certified number (0-5) of years of remaining eligibility the individual grower has for VFR. If the policy is not for an individual, this number is the lowest number of years remaining across all applications for the SBIs. This can only be edited until an Approved by AIP date exists (as shown in step 7). This value will be updated on roll. This field is required when the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked.

NOTE: When the Years of Eligibility is set to “0”, then the policy is marked for review.

7. This Approved by AIP field is only editable for Company users. In the Approved by AIP field, a Company user enters the date the Company approved the VFR status for the grower. When this field is not populated, the coverage is suspended for review.

NOTE: When changes are made to the Tax ID Number or Tax ID Type on the grower or SBI record(s) or an SBI is added or removed, if a date exists in the Approval by AIP field, it is removed for the RY the changes were made in and the policy is suspended and sent to the CIS/UW for re-approval.

NOTE: When the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked and the Certification Date and Years of Eligibility fields are completed, on save, a suspension message will display: “Veteran Farmer Rancher procedures have been applied, but have either not been approved by the Company or a change has been made to the grower and/or SBI record(s). Company review required.” The policy is sent to the CIS/UW for review.

8. Next, select one of the following:
Save: The VFR status is saved to the grower record, and you remain on the Maintain Grower page.
Save & Exit: The VFR status is saved to the grower record, and you are returned to the View Grower for Policy page. The VFR Status is displayed in the Eligibility Information section of this page.
Cancel: The VFR Status change isn’t saved to the application, and you are returned to the View Grower for Policy page.
