Add the BFR Status to a Grower/SBI Record

All Reinsurance Years

In order to apply BFR benefits to a policy, users must mark the Beginning Farmer/Rancher (BFR) checkbox on the Maintain Grower page—this page is only accessed from within a policy. Then, users are prompted to provide additional BFR certification and eligibility information.

1. Search for and locate a policy of the grower whose record you need to add BFR status to.
2. On the View Grower for Policy page, click Edit. The Maintain Grower page opens.
3. In the Eligibility Information section, expand the Beginning & Veteran Farmer Rancher Information section, select the BFR/VFR checkbox. The Application Type, Certification Date, Years of Eligibility, and Processed by AIP fields appear.

NOTE: When the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked on the grower record, the premium and Admin Fees are applied when an AR Sign Date exists on the coverage, the coverage has been marked complete at least once, and it has one premium earning detail line.

4. In the BFR Certification Date field, type the date the BFR status was certified and the application was signed or click the calendar button to open the calendar and select a date. This can only be edited until a BFR Approved by AIP date exists (as shown in step 6). This field is required when the BFR checkbox is marked.
5. From the Years of BFR Eligibility dropdown, select the certified number (0-5) of years of remaining eligibility the individual grower has for BFR. If the policy is not for an individual, this number is the lowest number of years remaining across all applications for the SBIs. This can only be edited until a BFR Approved by AIP date exists (as shown in step 6). This value will be updated on roll. This field is required when the BFR checkbox is marked.

NOTE: When the Years of BFR Eligibility is set to “0”, then the policy is marked for review.

6. This Approved by AIP field is only editable for Company users. In the Approved by AIP field, a Company user enters the date the Company approved the BFR status for the grower. When this field is not populated, the coverage is suspended for review.

NOTE: When changes are made to the Tax ID Number or Tax ID Type on the grower or SBI record(s) or an SBI is added or removed, if a date exists in the Approval by AIP field, it is removed for the RY the changes were made in and the policy is suspended and sent to the CIS/UW for re-approval.

NOTE: When the BFR/VFR checkbox is marked and the Certification Date and Years of Eligibility fields are completed, on save, a suspension message will display: “Beginning Farmer Rancher procedures have been applied, but have either not been approved by the Company or a change has been made to the grower and/or SBI record(s). Company review required.” The policy is sent to the CIS/UW for review.

7. Next, select one of the following:
Save: The BFR status is saved to the grower record, and you remain on the Maintain Grower page.
Save & Exit: The BFR status is saved to the grower record, and you are returned to the View Grower for Policy page. The BFR Status is displayed in the Eligibility Information section of this page.
Cancel: The BFR Status change isn’t saved to the application, and you are returned to the View Grower for Policy page.
